NOTE TO JOSE LUIS ANSELMI FROM THE ASSISTCARGO OFFICES IN SPAIN
In December 2022, Assistcargo SA inaugurated its first operations center in Europe. As the company’s first office opened on the European continent, Assistcargo arrives in Europe with the conviction that it can make a significant contribution to the logistics ecosystem to raise its levels of safety, sustainability and operational cost savings.
Jose Luis Anselmi, founder of Assistcargo and CSO of the company, today leader of the company in Spain, gave us an internal interview, telling us about the company’s strategy after the European landing, along with thoughts and reflections of this expansion process . About this, we comment:
- What is Assistcargo’s strategy for Spain and the European market? Regarding this, are you planning to replicate the American strategy with the same products and ideas?
At Assistcargo we are going to export to Europe all the accumulated experience and technological developments that have led us to be one of the main Latin American players in providing solutions to ensure the integrity of the logistics chain.
The idea is to export all this knowledge and best practices applied in environments of high geographic and security complexity such as Latin America.
Our services, which were originally mainly focused on theft prevention, today cover a much broader spectrum; such as document management of suppliers and company resources, software for logistics and control towers, sustainability, etc.
- What difference do you see in the European logistics problems?
Although with less intensity, the insecurity suffered by goods during transport has been growing steadily, generating significant losses and there are no experienced companies like ours in Europe available to neutralize this scourge.
Regarding the theft of goods in transit, the modality is less violent than in Latin America. Most thefts are carried out in detention places or parking lots when the truck is left unattended; many cases of driver identity theft also occur.
Without a doubt, we can contribute a lot to generate a safer environment.
- Do European border crossings entail any particular problems?
Although the existence of the European Common Market brought down trade borders, language barriers remain, as well as the need to comply with strict regulations, such as driving times and the remuneration of drivers. There are companies that, to avoid these regulations, incur violations or, as happened recently with the arrest of transporters who tampered with tachographs. We can offer independent control that assures the shipper that their goods are transported in compliance with regulations, thus avoiding fines or interruptions in their supply chain.
The situation on Europe’s border with the United Kingdom after Brexit deserves separate analysis. The problem is not limited to delays due to customs procedures, which in themselves are a major obstacle, but there is also a serious problem with the clandestine intrusion of migrants into trucks that enter with cargo. This has forced the authorities to demand controls and precautions that, if not met, can generate severe fines and confiscation of the transported loads.
FromAssistcargo We can also make an effective contribution to discourage and prevent this problem based on our risk management tools.
- What is Assistcargo’s vision for the future?
Keep intact our passion for developing services aimed at protecting the integrity and efficiency of the logistics chain. With a strong commitment to contributing to sustainability by assisting our clients to reduce their environmental impact as much as possible.
We have a great team of professionals and a vocation to explore and invest in new technologies in order to always be updated, providing innovative solutions.
